What is the NSW requirements for Trailer Break-away Systems?
The NSW RTA has specific unique requirements for the break-away brake systems on caravan and trailers with a GTM Rating over 2.0 tonne. Vehicle Inspectors Bulletin No 06 details the provision of a device to inform the driver (while in the normal seating position) of the charge-condition of the battery in the caravan/trailer, so as to provide a warning if the battery may be unable to activate the break-away brake system for the required 15 minutes.
Which is the fridge of choice? A 3-way or a 2-way?
Please read this article to compare the advantages and disadvantages of each type. 3-way v 2-way fridges.pdf
Can I drive a Cut Loose combination with a normal car licence?
The vehicles you can drive with a standard car licence, or "C" Class licence is determined by the Gross Vehicle Mass of that vehicle. A "C" Class licence permits the driving of 'a motor vehicle weighing 4.500 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) or less, with or without a trailer (that complies with its weight rating).'
Most popular tow vehicles used with Cut Loose 5th Wheelers have a GVM around 3.0 tonnes and can be driven with a C class license, including when your Cut Loose is attached - see our Tow Mass Guide page for more information.
I can't find a GCM (Gross Combination Mass) figure for my tow vehicle. Why not?
Some tow vehicle manufacturers do not publish a GCM figure. In this case we use the Tow Vehicle GVM plus its Trailer Towing Capacity. Where the GCM is published it should be used.
We live in north Queensland and have a compressor fridge installed. It seems to draw more amps than we would like. What can we do?
Your condensation may not be evaporating from the tray above the compressor tank, you can connect a small hose to run this outside. Also wrapping the copper pipes with a rubber hose may reduce condensation and some owners install a 12 volt fan to help ventilation in the fridge compartment. The cooler this space is the less current is required - particularly useful if on solar power.
I'm not a Queensland resident but would like to register my Cut Loose in Queensland when I collect it. Is this possible?

For my Tow Vehicle do I need a 4WD?
For vehicles with manual gearboxes, whilst 4WD may rarely be used whilst towing the 5th wheeler you may find the low range gears useful for reversing on a campsite or when making a standing start on a steep incline. This will make the 4WD option well worth considering and do note that the 4WD models of many tow vehicles have a higher weight rating than many of the 2WD models.
Are there 5th Wheeler Towing Courses available?

ROZ D.
“I purchased a Roebuck from Nick Oliver two years ago – as a single, 60 year old, retired woman. I lived in it for the first six months, traveling up and down the east coast of NSW. However due to illness I have been unable to make many trips in it since, but that is about to change.
It has been a long time dream of mine to travel this beautiful country. And in March this year I will be setting off on my trip around Australia. I had never towed anything before in my life. I researched many types of vans before purchasing from Cut Loose.
I decided that a 5th wheeler was the best option due to its ease of towing and the fact you can detach it and have your car to see the sights. I remember it only took a couple of test drives and a 2 hour backing course with the RACQ before I took delivery and pulled out onto the highway - I was away!
Mad perhaps, but I have found it so easy to tow and now that I understood how to work everything it’s a breeze. And there is always someone to assist with the backing - but I intend to master this on my long trip.
The after sales service is exemplary. I have had to make calls when I was unsure of something and assistance was happily given at all times. Nick and his team live up to their promises and I thank them from the bottom of my heart!!”

JOYCE AND WARREN S.
Joyce and Warren recently received delivery of their Cut Loose Alpha series Roebuck and are now on the road. Here is what they had to say.
“We ended up finding a spot and free camped for two nights after picking up the Roebuck. On the Monday we stayed at a Caravan Park in Repton, NSW. We stopped every hour and a half at roadside rest stops and would have a drink and/or food. I have to admit it felt great to be able to just do this!
The fuel economy was pretty good too; we travelled 750 klms from when we left on Saturday and managed 13.9 L/100klms with the Colorado.
We are gradually learning where switches are for everything, had a couple of barbeques as well as cooking inside. We are so pleased we ordered the barbeque. We also put a lot of our things in the Roebuck that we had in the cars and believe we would not have been far off with what we would have for a smaller trip. We are extremely happy with the amount of space, especially with the extending living area room.
So there you go, two very happy customers hanging out to do a big trip but happy enough to do little ones to get accustomed to everything.
Thank you to everyone from Cutloose for all the help received, right from day one, especially in regard to my chemical sensitivities. Wayne was terrific taking us through everything on Saturday. You have all made this an exciting and enjoyable experience for us and we truly appreciate the way you have treated us. So thank you again to Nick, Garry, Wayne and everyone else who has been involved, we know there are others we have not met, but believe me you have two happy customers!!
Take care and all the best for 2012!
Sincerely,
Joyce & Warren.

LIZ AND DAVE W.
We have been cutting loose for more than 6 weeks now and have until the end of January to enjoy our travels down the east coast of Australia. We are currently in Merimbula Beach about to head off to Lakes Entrance then Melbourne for Christmas with some dear friends.
Our Cut Loose 26' is working perfectly, our only regret is that this holiday has to end.
The Isuzu D-Max is averaging 11.1 l/100k overall and tows the 5th wheeler nicely around the 90 k/hr mark.
Best wishes

KEN AND HEATHER.
Ken and Heather, Victoria - Proud owners of a Cut Loose Sirius
Ken and I are very pleased with the 'Sirius', we had a great trip home. You said that we wouldn't know that we had it on the back, well I am amazed at how it tows. I actually drove for 1.5 hours and passed another caravan and car, that was really something.
Its comfort PLUS! Especially the heater, the shower and of course the toilet! Just love it.
The registration at Shepparton Victoria Roads went off well.
Thanks for sending through the manual for us, we have yet to read all the instructions but we have managed to operate everything well.
We have been down to Warragual and received plenty of looks as we drove along the roads. Some people came over to us when we stopped for coffee, so we showed them through our Cut Loose, they were very impressed. One girl asked me, 'Is that your fifth wheeler?' and when I told her it was, she said 'Wow, I like that!'. So lets hope the Victorians catch on to how great they are.
A big thanks to the Cut Loose team, we really appreciate your care and follow-up care. We will keep in touch.

Brisbane to Townsville
A short note about our trip home to Townsville. All in all a good trip with the van performing as expected. I thought our gear would move around or even get damaged on the road and I am glad to say that nothing moved or was damaged in any way. Where ever possible I maintained highway speed and the van handled the road extremely well. We are very happy we decided on a Cut Loose 27ft and the inherent stability of a Fifth Wheeler. Many thanks to you and your team for your assistance and patience during delivery.

To Whom it may concern
Why we chose a Cut Loose RV for our 5th Wheeler - after considerable amount of research into tow vehicles and 5th wheeler specifications my wife and I decided on the Cut Loose 27ft 5th Wheeler and Mazda BT50 combination. After talking to Nick and his team we found them extremely professional and helpful right from our inquiries through to the purchase and subsequent delivery, including the setting up of the tow vehicle.
We chose Cut Loose RV because of Price, Quality, Serivce, Professionalism and Courtesy shown to us by the entire Cut Loose Team. I would recommend anyone who may be thinking of purchasing a Fifth Wheeler to contact Nick and his team as I have every confidence that they will be as happy with the product and experience as we are.

To Whom it May Concern
My wife and I spent considerable time on the internet researching and made two trips from New Zealand visiting numerous factories/suppliers of 5th Wheelers in Queensland and New South Wales. This was in addition to our own travelling experience throughout New Zealand for a number of years. We chose to buy our 5th Wheeler from Cut Loose for a number of reasons - value for money, features, service and the best friendly professional team you could ask for. My wife and I took delivery of our 5th wheeler and are extremely happy with it and intend to live and tour Australia for years to come. See you on the road!

When asked why we chose a Cut Loose by many of our friends we had a few simple short answers: Quality, Value for Money, Great Service and Peace of Mind. The Cut Loose team really know what they are talking about and have a fantastic product we are happy to call home.
